Welcome to OneStep Blog!

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person, or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”

– Barack Obama

This blog is designed to provide insightful and impactful information for those who are seeking guidance for equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), leadership and team development, and community engagement. Our goal is to share our expertise in leadership capacity building to help individuals and organizations enhance leadership competencies in the areas of EDI and engagement. The focus of our blogs will relate to the work that we are accomplishing in the field through personal, interpersonal, and organizational aspects of leading.

Considering current events in the world, the climate has shifted in the USA. COVID-19 is overwhelming our country, but especially marginalized communities who were struggling before the pandemic. COVID-19 has added additional stress on all systems and on the quality of life, particularly for Black, Brown, and Poor People. As such, the issues of equity and fairness are being pushed to new limits.

In the middle of COVID-19, the capturing of the murder of George Floyd has caused outrage across races, communities, and the nation to urge change like has never been seen before in the United States. COVID-19 and race relations will profoundly impact our nation for a long time. As such, there is an increased need for community and national leaders to willingly lead "with and through" this time to intersect a divided country in the middle of a pandemic that is plagued with racial, socioeconomic, health, unfair justice system, and inequities in education.

We intend for our blog to provide tools and space for conversation to help stimulate and facilitate the change that is needed.
